Meet Your Host: Ismail, The Medina’s Creative Alchemist
Ismail is the heart and soul of this experience. A simple, friendly, and fun-loving person, he creates a relaxed atmosphere where everyone feels instantly at ease. His journey is fascinating: he began his career as a Mâalem (Master) in traditional Thuya woodcraft, mastering the ancestral techniques of marquetry. But his creative spirit couldn’t be contained by tradition alone.
Today, Ismail channels this deep knowledge into his unique “tableaux” (art pieces), mixing his traditional know-how with acrylic paints and found materials. He has become a true artist, and it’s in the bustling streets of the medina that he finds his inspiration, soaking up the atmosphere of the neighborhood. He has shared his unique approach with people from all over the world, who have fallen in love with his art and his welcoming spirit.
Your Creative Session: No Rules, Just Expression
This workshop is all about letting your creativity flow. For about four hours (the time is flexible and adapts to your pace), Ismail will be your guide. He’ll share his expertise and techniques, but more importantly, he will make you feel comfortable enough to create on your own!
You will work with a variety of materials—Thuya wood, metal, acrylic paints—to craft a unique piece that is entirely yours. In a relaxed atmosphere often filled with the sound of music, you will discover the joy of creating without pressure or judgment. This is not about technical perfection; it’s about inspiration and finding your own artistic voice on the day.
