Build Your Guembri (Traditional Gnawa Instrument) with Mjid - ESSAOUIRA
The Guembri is a traditional three-stringed instrument that holds deep cultural significance in Morocco. Essaouira is renowned for its rich musical heritage and this unique instrument, carries the soul of the Gnawa community, descendants of West African slaves. Guided by Mjid, a skilled instrument maker, you will buy your material and craft your own Guembri from the beginning to the end, in traditional way. Mjid will share his expertise and stories.

SIMPLE (ACOUSTIC) GUEMBRI :
- 3 to 4 days workshop in Essaouira's medina (7 days total for the Guembri to be fully finished, please read the note below)
- 6 hours / day
- Material is included
- Shipping of the instrument is possible, at your expense

The workshop involve 3 to 4 days of hands-on construction. Additionally to the construction phase, the instrument will require an additional 3 days to properly dry and be ready for use. Please note that a total of seven days is needed for your Guembri to be fully finished.
