Chefchaouen Goat Cheese Workshop: Authentic Tasting
Join Mohamed at his mountain farmstead near Chefchaouen for a hands-on Jebala goat cheese workshop. Milk a goat, learn traditional methods & taste fresh cheese.
A Culinary Escape to the Heart of the Rif
Beyond the blue walls of Chefchaouen lies a world of green mountains, serene villages, and ancestral traditions. We invite you to step into this world for an immersive and flavorful experience: a journey into the daily life of a mountain farmstead to uncover the secrets of traditional Jebala goat cheese. This is a simple, authentic, and delicious immersion into the heart of the Rif's rural life, hosted by Mohamed, a passionate local farmer.
Meet Your Host: Mohamed, Farmer and Cook
Just a 20-minute drive from Chefchaouen, in a small, peaceful village, you will be warmly welcomed by Mohamed, a passionate local farmer and an excellent cook. He is keeper of a traditional know-how form the Jebala families (the mountain community), that he shares with you. This is your chance to connect with the authentic rhythm of mountain life, far from the bustle of the medina.
Your Hands-on Farmstead Experience
Your adventure begins with the most essential step: you will participate in milking a goat to collect the fresh, rich milk. Mohamed will then explain to you each stage of the cheesemaking process, sharing the techniques and stories passed down through his family for generations. The experience culminates in an idyllic tasting of the fresh cheese, accompanied by local olive oil and other farm products. It’s a moment of simple, profound pleasure, enjoying the fruits of your labor in a spectacular natural setting.
